We understand that children respond differently to testing than adults, which is why we use specialised techniques tailored to their age, development, and attention span.

We take the time to help your child feel comfortable before testing begins. Your audiologist will talk with you about any concerns, your child's hearing and medical history, speech and language development, and how they're managing at home, preschool or school.
The hearing assessment is then tailored to your child's age and developmental stage. Testing may involve listening and responding to different sounds, including play-based activities where appropriate, so the appointment remains engaging and child-friendly. We take a calm, patient, and reassuring approach to every child’s appointment. Parents are involved throughout the process and given clear explanations of results and any recommended next steps.
If your child's hearing test identifies a concern, your audiologist will explain what the results mean and discuss the appropriate next steps with you. Depending on the findings, this may include monitoring, further assessment, management or referral to another healthcare professional.

Children's hearing test fees, Medicare & referrals
A referral is not required to book a children’s hearing test. However, to claim a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a referral from your GP or another medical professional. If you have a referral, please bring this to your appointment.
